FLY QUIET PROGRAM
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) established Fly Quiet Programs (FQP) to showcase, along with partners in the airline industry and the FAA, ongoing efforts to be good neighbors by operating quietly and sustainably. The Fly Quiet program is a voluntary collaboration of the Port Authority, Airlines, aircraft operators, and FAA air traffic controllers that encourages them to use suggested quieter aircraft, noise abatement flight procedures, and preferential runways. As part of the Airport Noise Compatibility Planning program, the Port Authority developed a Fly Quiet program for JFK, EWR, and LGA. Every year the Port Authority will review participating air carriers’ fleet mix, community engagement, pilot training, and sustainability efforts and award the air carriers that perform the best. Information on the program and which airlines performed the best will be released each year in the Fly Quiet Reports that are posted below.
